Why not hire an internal consultant?
You certainly can! Strategy, business planning, research… these are common roles, and many of them cost over $100,000 for well-experienced resources. Are they worth the money? Yes! Especially if they can help your business avoid risks, identify new growth opportunities, and check to make sure your competitive edge keeps ahead of the market. But, do you have enough work to keep them continually busy? If you already have a CSO, does your team need supplemental, reliable and cost-effective support?
What are the limitations on service requests?
For the subscription-based service, you can keep us busy as much as you like. The limitation is that requests will be delivered in sequence, in other words, one at a time. For special requests, we will give you an estimate for how long it will take. For the Standard Services, timelines are noted.
How quickly will I receive output?
Our approach is to focus on one request at a time, intensively. The Standard Services are designed around a 2-day turnaround. Special requests can take longer (or shorter).
Who are the consultants?
AnswerTeam is led by its Principals. Our focus is on just a few clients. We have a small team of consultants and research partners supporting our efforts. Your interface will be with the Principals.
What if I subscribe, but then don’t need much help?
With AnswerTeam’s monthly plan, you can pause it! If you are in a slow period and need less help, resume the service at a later time.
We understand your workload goes up and down. Are you preparing for an annual board meeting? Your needs will spike. Is your business a ski resort and now it’s springtime? You get the idea. That’s exactly where the ability to pause the service is highly valuable.
How does that work? Billing cycles are monthly. For example, if you subscribe to our service and keep us busy for 2 weeks, you can pause the subscription, and you’ll have another 2 weeks (plus a few days) that you can use at a later time.
And we know you’re thinking, “what if I unpause the service, ask a question, then quickly pause it again?” That’s ok, we’ll resume the work as soon as you unpause the service.
What is your output format?
Word doc, Powerpoint, or spreadsheets, depending on your request.
How do I request your service?
For subscribers, we interface mainly with Trello, and we also have an online form for Standard Services, suited to those who have a one-off request or would like to give us a “test”. By the way, Trello enables easy sharing of files, Google docs and videos.
What if you’re too busy, and cannot fulfill my request?
We’ll let you know, and you can pause the service, but our operating model and access to partners’ support will make that unlikely.
What if I’m unsatisfied with the output?
We’ll keep working to make sure it’s right. If your budget is tight, we’ll be careful about scope creep, a common operational challenge with consulting-type work. We will take on your feedback that is targeted at the output itself, and that is keeping pace with the original request.
Do you use AI?
We use everything: Google, databases, interviews, ChatGPT… whatever helps us to deliver high value. But the question is specific to AI, so please check out our views on AI-generated content.
Is there any consulting work that you don’t do?
For sure, and we’ll let you know. Consulting requests can be highly diverse, and we have developed a delivery model around a few specific services. While that is the focus of our work, if you need more answers, that’s what we’re here for. If we cannot answer your question, then we won’t. (And you can hit the pause button if you have nothing else for us to do).
What if I only have a single request?

Are there any refunds if I don’t like the service?
No. We are focused on providing value. Our service pricing is far below, and our responsiveness is far above, what you would receive from traditional consulting services. If our offer is not what you require, please tell us who can give you what you need, because that’s the model we aim to emulate. To be sure, we don’t target every type of deliverable, but our focus is on solving problems and delivering answers – we’ll do our best to make that happen.
